Established in 2009, the Ashland-based Dominion Energy Innovation Center is a clean energy incubator and independent nonprofit public-private partnership founded by Dominion Energy, the Town of Ashland, Hanover County, and Activation Capital. The DEIC prioritizes community building and startup support at all stages of the journey. By fostering collaboration, providing resources, and offering guidance, the Center supports clean energy companies helping drive sustainable solutions while building a strong entrepreneurial community across Virginia, and beyond.

DEIC was founded in 2009. Accelerate has had 4 cohorts since it was started in 2020. Hyperscaled and Precursor program began in 2024.


For Accelerate and Hyperscaled, companies should have at least one full-time employee and expect to dedicate 2 – 4 hours per week to the program.

Mentoring, networking (local and with industry leaders), technical assistance, subject matter expertise, training, business competitions, coworking space and events.


6000 sq ft building in Downtown Ashland, VA. 10 private offices, large common area, 2 conference rooms, workshop area and 2 open offices are available to coworking members.
