Greentown Labs is a community of bold, passionate entrepreneurs creating game-changing energy technologies that transform the way we live, work and play. Located just outside of Boston in Somerville, MA, Greentown Labs is the largest cleantech incubator in the United States, operating a 40,000 sq. ft. facility that is home to more than 50 startup companies. Its mission is to foster and support startups that are solving the world’s biggest energy and environmental challenges. They support startups by providing access to the space, resources and funding they need to thrive. Greentown Labs is unique in a variety of ways but notably for its focus on hardware-focused startups and its affordable, rent-based model. Greentown Labs does not take equity in any of its member companies.

Services & Metrics
The custom-designed, 40,000 sq. ft. facility includes dedicated prototyping space with a machine shop, electronics lab and walk-in ready office space. The MassCEC Event Space holds up to 250 people and frequently hosts panel discussions, networking events and speaker series to exchange ideas and collaborate with leaders in the cleantech ecosystem and innovation economy.
Success rate: 86% of all companies Greentown Labs has served since its inception (total of 109) are still in operation; the majority of which are in MA.
Collectively, Greentown Labs member companies have raised more than $180M
