Innovate UK Global Incubator Programme (GIP)

GIP is an international market entry accelerator program for a competitively selected cohort of climate startups based in the UK. Through support from the Urban Future Lab (UFL) and Greentown Labs (GTL), the program seeks to find breakthrough early-stage technology companies and leverage UFL’s and GTL’s market entry and soft-landing capabilities in New York City to attract local funding, partnerships, and customers for a select number of companies (ranging from six to eight companies per cohort).

1. Programme fit: Must be a highly innovative company and fit with the Global Incubation Programme focus. 2. Ambition: Must show ambition for growth and how participating in the programme can help achieve this. 3. Product-Market fit: The product has the potential to fit with the ecosystem and market of the partner country. 4. Capability: Must have sufficient expertise and resources to exploit the opportunities from the programme. 5. Level of Innovation impact: Given the competitive markets of the Global Incubation Programme, the company should offer a strong product or service that whicImpacth has a positive impact on climate change.
Innovate UK and Innovate UK EDGE fully fund and organize flights, accomodation, in-market transffers for successful applicants for two group market visits. One representative from each company is funded per vist. On acceptance to the programme a commitment fee of £1000 is obtained from each company, which will be refunded on completion of the full activities and agreed action plan. Non-completion after formal acceptance may result in forfeiting some or all of the commitment fee.
Startups must participate in a 6-month program curriculum. Startups must also be available for two week-long in-person market visits to New York City and present at the Final Showcase event at the conclusion of the program.

The Urban Future Lab space is locted in downtown Brooklyn at NYU Tandon's School of Engineering. It is comprised of co-working facilities, meeting rooms, common areaeas and offices. Lab space is available for rent from NYU.
