Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage
Overview
Technology Description
Bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) is a potential carbon dioxide removal technology anchored in the concept of pairing a carbon-neutral feedstock with carbon capture and storage (CCS) to effectively produce carbon-negative energy. This is typically conducted through equipping biomass combustion or ethanol fermentation with CCS, but biomass gasification with CCS has also been explored as a potential emerging deployment option of BECCS.
