MeterLeader is similar to a Fitbit challenge, but instead of steps we measure kWh and therm energy reductions. MeterLeader motivates people to save energy by integrating real-time energy data feedback, competitions and games, and social interaction, which have been shown to achieve up to 27% in energy savings. Creating and participating in an energy savings challenge is easy, quick, and requires no energy expertise. Challenge organizers are able to claim carbon emission reductions and gain positive PR, while challenge participants get the opportunity to save money and win prizes. Companies and other organizations can use MeterLeader to engage their networks.
