NYPA Green Hydrogen Demonstration Project
Overview
Project Summary
The project will co-fire hydrogen with natural gas at NYPA's Brentwood Power Station on Long Island. The simple-cycle plant consists of a GE LM-6000 gas turbine commissioned in the summer of 2001. Different concentrations of hydrogen (0-35% by volume) will be blended and co-fired with natural gas at regular intervals to assess the impact on greenhouse gas emissions, NOx emissions and overall system performance. The hydrogen co-firing tests will begin in spring 2022 and are expected to last six to eight weeks.
