Tokyo Electric - Grid Integration with High PV Penetration Project
Overview
Project Summary
In response to tremendous growth in distributed PV throughout Japan, Tokyo Electric (along with the New Energy Development Office, or NEDO) is investigating advanced technologies for managing PV generation including smart inverters and DERMS. The goal of the demonstration is to develop and test a Japanese smart inverter (both residential and commercial-scale) along with coordinated control using standard communication protocols. EPRI is working with the project team to understand international developments in smart inverter and DERMS technology as well as potential applications that would be uniquely suited to the Japanese power system.
