Drumlin Wind Energy Co-operative
Overview
Project Summary
Drumlin Wind Energy Co-op owns and operates 6 x 250 kW turbines located across Northern Ireland, in Aghafab, Ballyboley, Cavanoneill, Parkgate, Ballyrobert and Cavanakill. In two successful share offers (in 2012 and 2014), the co-operative raised £3.7 million. Drumlin Wind Energy has a minimum share holding of 250 and a maximum of 20,000. Each wind turbine in the co-op will commit £2000 per annum to the local community. It is proposed that the community fund will support local environmental and social projects in the areas local to each wind turbine. The main aim of this co-operative is to generate clean, green electricity and help reduce reliance on existing less environmentally-friendly energy resources. It actually counts 933 members in Northern Ireland.
