Overview

Project Summary

Hydro One is quantifying the impact of distributed energy storage systems if incorporated into its distribution system. Their goals are to understand sizing, controls, and locational impacts.

Techno-economic analysis is currently underway to develop processes to consider energy storage as a non-wires alternative to conventional distribution solutions in the following three use cases:

  1. Capacity deferral
  2. Increasing DER hosting capacity
  3. Increasing reliability
