Overview

Project Summary

Salt River Project (SRP) deployed more than 750 residential smart inverters to customer-owned PV systems and one commercial array to determine the optimal inverter settings, communications, and control requirements to accommodate the demand for solar among customers. Data is then collected across three groups (project components) of smart inverters:

  • those with no communication with the utility after an initial setup
  • those whose settings are updated seasonally
  • those whose settings were frequently updated via a single-feeder distribution management system (mini-DMS)

As data is collected, EPRI is conducting analytics to assess inverters’ operations, performance, interaction and impact on the distribution system.
