Edinburgh Community Solar Co-op (ECSC)
Overview
Project Summary
Edinburgh Community Solar Co-operative owns and operates 24 solar panel installations throughout Edinburgh with a total generating capacity of 1.38 MW. Each year solar panels generate approximately 1.1 GWh of clean, renewable electricity for the local buildings and the wider grid. The profits generated by the co-operative will be used to help make Edinburgh a cleaner, greener city while helping to alleviate fuel poverty in the city. The fact that the assets are owned by local people will ensure that more of the profits stay within the local economy and more people are engaged with the issues of climate change. Today Edinburgh Community Solar Co-operative counts 540 members.
