Repower Balcome project has the main aim to generate 100% of Balcome's electricity demand through community-owned renewable energy systems. In 2015 Repower Balcome installed 45 kWp of solar photovoltaics (PV), at a local farm and two local schools. In 2016, thanks to a successful share offer that raised £110,000, an additional 100 kWp of solar PV at two other local schools has been installed. REPOWERBalcombe sells investment in the form of shares to the community. Shares can be bought from £250 upwards with the controlling investors coming only from the local area. Repower Balcome aims to provide shareholders with returns of around 5% per annum.
